Tomac Triathlete Jim Thijs wins off-road duathlon in Putte Belgium

Jim Thijs (Tomac Bikes/Notubes) won the off-road duathlon in Putte, Belgium. Thijs dominated the race from start to finish. After the first run Thijs had a 20sec lead on his closest rival. On the cyclocross-style mtb track he could distance himself even more on his Tomac Type X hardtail. The Belgian Xterra triathlon specialist could cruise to the finish line in the second run with an over one minute lead.

Thijs will do one more off-road duathlon in Belgium before making a trip to the US in April to race Xterra Las Vegas and the Sea Otter mtb races.

Jim Thijs (Tomac Bikes/Notubes) from Belgium finished 2^nd at the first national off-road duathlon. “After the first run I didn’t feel strong and lost 20seconds on the leaders. I could close the gap easily on my Tomac hardtail. We started the final run with just 3 leaders. Like in the first run I was missing the leg speed and couldn’t follow the pace from Moris.”

Thijs finished ahead of Labie who took the 3th podium spot. It’s the best season opener ever for Jim Thijs, whose goal is to be at his best in October at the Xterra World Championships in Maui.

Alright, it's official I placed third overall in the OMBC series this year in my class. Heading into the championship race I was three point ahead of third place, so after racing 20 mile I finished third agian, but time gap between second and third was to much and I loss second place overall by ONE point, when they say every point counts it does and the entire season for me was all about fighting for that one point.

My first race this year was in the middle of a monsoon that dropped 5" of rain in 24 hour period and a wreck late in the race put me out for the next three weeks with lower back pain. After, missing the next two races in the OMBC series, I got back on track with a couple of podium spots and heat stroke just to remind me how hot this summer was here in the East. By mid summer thing were getting better with another third place finish to put me in the top five in the series, but as you know I pulled a "Bob" and showed up one hour late to the Alum creek race (Didn't check the website for early start time, because all the other races in the series started at 1:00, why because the slower riders would slow down the lap times of pro/expert riders on the short 6 mile loop).

I got the monkey off my back this year at the Lake Hope race with a second place finish, but clipping a tree in the first mile of that race messed my shoulder up for the next two weeks. Soon the season was drawing to an end and I need to pick up another race for the NO SHOW at Alum Creek.

After spending the a couple of days with Captn Chris in Columbus, I went to Dillion Sate Park recharged and ready to race a tough rocky and rooty 18 miles, after finishing 1st at Dillion it put me in the top three in my class for the overall series.

By this time of the season everything was looking great I was getting ready to go on a short vacation, come back and race a 12 hour solo in WV just to keep the legs loose for the championship in a few weeks.

Then as we all know from being mountain bikers shit happens and life continues in multiple directions. So in that short period of time before the championship race the rear end on my Tomac cracks, and I start on a two week remodel of a new home I'll be moving into the week of the championship race. Fun times!!!! Fun times!!!!!!

Yet, Capt incredible Chris gets the Tomac put back together the day before the race, and in the three week period I had been on my crossbike maybe four times so lining up at the series championship with a 3 point lead over third place it was time to race, not for me, but for all the people that helped keep my season rolling along.

So I want to say thanks to Capt Chris (The Man that was the glue of my 2010 season), thanks to James at Sigma (Don't worry man I'm going to run the hell out of the night lights in some 24hr.races next year), thanks to Jim and Matt at Hydrapack, Ken at Xpedo (Third year on Ti pedals now!!! that a stress test of product), thanks to Jim at Kenda, Thanks to the guys a Ryder sun glasses (Sorry I lost my glasses, I was also bit by a dog that day and had to bush whack though 2 miles of thorns to find my way back, so I think I know where the glasses are, I'm just not ready to go back for them), thanks to the guys a KMC (This is the first season I didn't break a chain durning a race), Thanks to Pete at Amino Vital (I wish you the very best, and I'm glad I had the chance to hang out with you guys), and Thanks to Joel at Tomac (The speed and effort you put into getting a replacement rear end, you think I was JOHN TOMAC, thanks again). Well its starting to turn cold here and my Thanksgiving day ride will soon be here and we start getting ready for next season.

Where to start:

Well I am going to start by saying thank you to all my family and friends the have helped me at and up to this race. Kiri, Chris and Al where my crew for worlds and they did a great job. We also had Rodney and Bec form Super sports down and MrAy Up himself, Thanks very much for all your support guys.

What was my plan? Well I decided that for this race I would start slow and let everyone bury themselves throughout the arvo and hopefully come home strong. In my mind I was hoping to get myself into the top ten. Easy plan hey.

We all got called up to the start and before I knew it we where off round through transition and though to where our bike were be held. Chris had my bike and all I had to do was grab it get on and pedal. As I was running I pulled up from my run to grab my bike when my feet fell out from underneath me and I ended up flat on my back on the sealed bitumen. GROSS not the start was looking for.

My feet found the pedals and I was off, the plan for me was to set 1hr 10min laps for the first few hrs and go from there. By the end of my first lap I had cleared the course in 50min, to fast for my plan. I slowed up and cruised the course making sure I had the lined dialed before night fall. By the time night fell I was sitting in mid 20's in elite right time to turn it up a little and start heading for the top ten.

Over the next couple of laps people were dropping the pace while I was maintaining it, ever lap I came through, I would jump up 1 or 2 places. I could tell I was doing well because my crew were excited, I was talking , Joking and actually coherent throughout my race. My race continued like this until about 2 am then the pace dropped off which is ok but not ideal.

Ok once that glow appears in the sky I will be right with a bit of luck I will be able to up the pace and drag myself up just afew places. Well it was not to be I was lapping just shy of 1 and half hrs and I couldn't put any pace on. I couldn't put my finger on what was wrong the whole morning, legs felt ok, food was good and I could descend fine but just no power to go up hill. I wanted to pull the pin at 21hrs or so but with my crews help I got around the course, then on the last lap it became obvious what was wrong, going up the first lot of switch backs I could hardly get a breath in it was like I shallow breathing.

I am not to sure whether this played a factor for the whole morning or not, I am not to disappointed with my race considering that everyone suffered and pulled out foralot of reasons but I do feel I could have done better. That's racing.

I just want to congratulate Crummy on his race, it is probably the best 24hr he has ever done in my eyes, he has trained super hard this year and finished top 20 outright. Congrats mate U deserve it. Also congrats to all the Auz guys and girls that smashed there race.

I need to say thanks to all the people that make racing that little bit easier for me

Ay Up: for the the lights and other support they have given me throughout the year.

Super sports: for my trusty steads they were perfect for ripping the Stromlo course apart.

Ospray: for the hydro packs, I don't usually ride with a bag on my back but becauseof the length of the course and no second feed station I decided to. The bag was really good and it was the little things that made it great like the magnet on the mouth piece. [Reveiw to follow]

Infinite nutrition: Not saying that you can do a 24hr on nothing but this stuff but it would be the closest thing out there. This is really good gear [review to follow]

KWT: for hooking me up with my tread. Bike sticks like glue when your rolling with Onza.

I need to say thanks to Pedal pwr plus, Action cycles and Cognition for the help they have given me throughout the year, all of these shop a great and only to happy to help you out.

Last and not least Australian Aerospace [ my work] the company and all the guys and girls from work have been really great with all there support. Alot of them can't understand why I do 24hr racing and at 3 o'clock in the morning I don't either. LOLBut thanks heaps [for all you 24hr riders out there I should be able to convince work to give you a discount on your next helicopter purchase]

Supersports Tomac rider Andy Fellows World Solo Race Report

The 2010 World Solo Championships were held in Canberra on the 9th and 10th October. It was great to have the champs in Australia, being able to take all the desired equipment and not being stung with huge oversize baggage bills, on the downside it was in Canberra. Trying and compare Canmore to Canberra is like chalk and cheese, lets hope next year is somewhere cool and exciting to travel to!

So I loaded up the Ayup truck (Dennis the Landrover) and started driving down the coast on Monday, aiming to arrive around Wednesday, giving me enough time to scout the track and do some last minute shopping. The drive would have been easy, except they shut down one lane of the highway due to stupid amounts of water over the road, so I had to bypass Coffs and head up to Armidale! Down to Sydney the next day, and onto Canberra as planned on Wednesday lunch time.

Not long after arriving I hooked up with another Ayup Team Rider Sean Bekkers and we headed out to the famous Stromlo for a little looksee. The course was a basic figure 8 and saw riders climbing the mountain twice, once on the frontside and once on the backside, the front climb was mainly singletrack and it was easy to mantain a reasonable rythym and I enjoyed it, dropping down into a gnarly descent, known to the locals as Pork barrel, a sweet section of track, even had a couple of A and B lines. Once at the bottom, there was a steady fireroad climb up to the observatory. You then crossed the trail on a purpose build bridge and descended down into the skyline and luge trails. All in all about 18kms, fastest lap was 48mins and slowest 1hr18min. A lot of people thought the track was technical, especially in the descents, I love technical riding, so it didn't seem to bad, do remember struggling to hold onto my handle bars at one stage late in the race, so it sure was bumpy!

This year I had everthing I needed, in particular, all the people I needed. Mum and Dad had come up from Tasmania to support, my good mate, Richard Quinn had come over to throw the spanner around and hangout, and my fiance Jo had come down and had the title Pit Boss, which soon turned into Pit Bitch! I also had alot of support from friends and family throughout the country, thanks to you all!! So as we headed into Saturday morning the pit was running super smooth and the rest was up to me!

Almost instantly my stomach is upset, so I try to calm it down with some water and lemonade, it works after about 5hrs and start to come good. Not the start I wanted, never the less I start to make some progress reeling in the riders who went off to hard at the start, mind you Mr English is way up the road by now! I think its around midnight and I make it up to Scott who is in 3rd, we ride together for a while and Cory the Canadian has some bad luck (flat tyre, I believe) so we move into 2nd and 3rd respectably. Things stay like this for a while and we just start discussing the idea of working togther to stay away from Cory, to extend our lead. Funny, only minutes later he catches up. "Hi buddy" "Ay man" "how you travelling?" "good, except I nearly hit a fricken Kangaroo" and that was it, he attacked, Scott tried to go with him, so I watched them go up the road.

The next few hours into day break were probably the hardest, struggling to say awake and motivated! It wasn't until English caught me that I woke up, I rode with him for the next lap and eventually we caught Scott. Not long after I dropped Scott and Jason and rode off in search of Cory, I was feeling good and ready to takedown the 2nd position. I passed him in the pits on the very next lap and kept the pressure on, putting 4 minutes between us in the lap. Heading out on my second last lap I still felt good and hoped to put some more time in, I reached the pits for the final lap and was told I had around 4mins to Cory, I can do this I thought as I powered up the first climb, but, near the top, Cory came blasting past and simply couldn't hold his wheel, he was to fast! He ended up taking 2nd and there was about 2mins back to me in 3rd.

The last 5hrs of the races were crazy, I have never experienced that intensity at the end of a 24hr race.

Third again, while I didn't have the race I wanted, I do feel happy with the result.

-My Pit Crew- Mum and Dad, Rich, Jo (who I can't wait to marry in 4 weeks!) without my pit crew none of this would have been possible, thanks again.

-The Ayup Crew, especially Andrew Patten, for helping make dreams come true!

-Supporters all over, in particular, Greg and Mark from Noosa, who actually got kicked of the mountain for sceaming to loud!! You guys were great!

Today was the big day. I had a great day and finished 10^th at the Xterra World Championships in Maui, Hawaii.

The bike (Tomac Carbide SL) and wheels (Notubes Podium MMX) worked amazing on this brutal course.

And because you are all based in the US, not one single pro athlete from the US finished in front of me :) . Luckily you had a Belgian athlete to represent your brand here ;)

All in all, I'm very happy with your support. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to chase my dreams.

Right before traveling to Maui I had a last test ride on my brand new Tomac Carbide SL. To play around with the suspension settings I decided to give this very light and aggressive XC bike a real test. I went to one of Belgium’s finest DH tracks in Namur. The bike felt very stable under these extreme conditions, really amazing. I’m very proud to ride this Tomac bike at this moment. We are just a few days away from the Xterra World Championships in Maui, Hawaii. It’s a real motivational boost to know I’ll start with the best possible bike. I wanted to let you know that I went to the race in PA, I placed 12 out of 30. That's freakin awesome. I hit some trees but nothing too serious. The Tomac Carbide was awesome! Nothing broke and had no flats. We were waiting for start, and somebody behind me asked a guy if that was the same bike, to my amazement, right beside me was a TOMAC Carbide XC2. Holy ****! Finally got to race the Tomac Type-X at the Kenda Cup Final at Bonelli. Finished personal best 7th out of 13.

First of all the course was really good with some rough singletrack. The course was shortened to just over 4 miles long but suited for powerful riders. Steep short inclines with steep short declines. We had to do 5 laps and the late race start time was going to have a major affect on the riders.

First two laps were brutal for me. Super-fast start and being stuck in the back does not help. Moved up to mid-pack but fumbled behind a rider that had slipped his rear tire so we both went down on the steep climb. On the downhill went way too fast and blew off the course, didnt crash tho, but had to hike a bike back to the course. Blew myself up trying to catch up. 2nd lap was recovery.

Third, fourth, and the final fifth lap were much better. Slowly caught a couple of my category riders who were struggling in the heat. Many had dropped out already and it was super hot on the exposed areas.

Felt good to be competitive again. Got alot of work to do in the offseason but this boosted my confidence tremendously. Never been in the top 10 of a Cat 1 race, always been in the back.

The new bike is amazing. The carbon hardtail Tomac Type-X is responsive and quick on the accelerator. It was amazing to have a working front suspension and gears that shift whenever you need them to. XX shifting and the 2X10 gearing is perfect.

Tomac Bikes triathlete Jim Thijs finished 6th in Xterra Switserland!

Jim exited the 1500m swim in Lac Léman in 8^th position. On his Type X hardtail with Notubes Podium MMX wheels Jim could close the gap with the leaders in no time. But when they had to walk for several hundred meters true a river with their bikes Jim struggled a lot. “I have no idea what I was doing but I made a lot of mistakes and couldn’t follow the others”.

Eventually he started running in 6^th position and crossed the finish line in that same 6^th spot. “I’m disappointed with my result. The power was there, but I made too many mistakes in the river. Luckily we don’t have to do this kind of walking-mountainbiking true rivers a lot because clearly it’s not my speciality.”

Jim finished in the top 10 of all the European Xterra Tour Races in 2010. This results in a 6^th place in the overall European Tour ranking. “I’m very proud of this result and continue to work hard to have a superb result at the Xterra World Championships in Maui, Hawaii on the 24^th of October.”

Backbone Racing: Charles Libolt Update; First Backboner To Race In Europe?

Okay, so as promised here are some little updates from me. I got back from an epic three day weekend of riding in Mammoth just recently. If any of my fellow Backboners haven't been up to Mammoth this year, hurry up because the weather has been perfect and the trails are in great condition!

The crowds in town over the holiday weekend picked up considerably compared to last year, which seems to be a good economic sign. Over the weekend, the rental shop at Mammoth Mountain had to put customers on a "wait list" for rental bikes, because they rented out EVERYTHING they had in stock! It was great to see so many people out and enjoying the holiday weekend.

Now for my second update that I think most people are already familiar with- Ive been hiding out and laying low these past couple of months just trying to get my undergrad degree finished up and get into a good grad school. I put racing on hold for the rest of the year to just devote my time to this, and it looks like it paid off. I was offered admission at both of my top pick schools, and have formally accepted the offer from King's College London for 2011.

So it looks like as of next summer I will be packing up and moving to London! I'm already trying to figure out ways to bring at least one bike with me- especially since I don't plan on trying learn to drive on the wrong side of the road in one of the most congested cities on the planet...

So if all goes well, hopefully I can be the first Backbone rider in the UK! I'm extra pumped on this offer because it means I will have an apartment in London during the 2012 Olympics... Should be awesome! Maybe I can score tickets to one of the cycling events?

Anyway, thats it for now! I might be heading to Mammoth again this weekend to celebrate my birthday and get some good DH runs in on my Primer 220!

Tomac rider Jim Thijs 2nd in International Triathlon Villacidro

Jim Thijs (Belgium) finished second in an off-road triathlon event in Sardinia, Italy. Seven weeks before the Xterra World Championships in Maui he pulled off a really strong performance.

Jim exited the water in 4^th position. Once he jumped on his Tomac Type X mountain bike with Stan’s Notubes wheels he was on fire. For the first time in his career he realized the fastest bike split. To his own surprise he rode faster than former Xterra World Champion Nico Lebrun from France. Jim took 2^nd position behind DeFaveri halfway the race.

After the bike Jim started running very well and was going for the win until he took a wrong turn. The Belgian triathlete lost valuable time. Luckily he found his way back and finished in second position. DeFaveri won, Lebrun took 3th.

“I’m very happy with this result. It’s a bit sad that I got lost for some time and couldn’t go for the win today but on the other hand… I had the fasted bike split and finished in front of Lebrun. Both for the first time in my life. Winning would have been perfect, but I’m very pleased with my performance".

American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Race Update

The American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Professional Mountain Bike Team has had a busy July, with 2 members competing in the USA National Marathon Race in Breckenridge on July 4. Robert earned a 29th place in the Pro Men, with Chase competing in the Maverick Open race, finishing 33rd. The team then traveled to Colorado Springs for the Final Pro-Tour Event. Robert had his best performance of the year with a 14th in the first stage (TT), 19th in the 2nd stage (XC), and 13th in the 3rd stage (ST). Overall, he finished 16th. Chase competed in the Cat 1 Junior Men, where he earned 2 first place finishes and a second place. This was enough to give Chase the overall win. Philicia also earned the overall win in her category, Cat 1 19-29 women. She swept the weekend, getting the win each day. The final weekend of racing in July took the team to Granby, CO for the USA Cycling Mountain Bike National Championships. Robert competed in XC and ST, where he finished 41st and 36th. Chase and Philicia both competed in Cat 1 XC, ST, and Super-D. Chase had an exceptional Junior Short Track race, where he earned a 3rd place. He finished 9th in XC, and 13th in Super-D. Philicia finished just off the podium in XC with a 6th place, and 10th in short track. In Super-D, Philicia shined and crossed the finish line first of the 19-29 Women, earning her a Stars and Stripes Jersey!

The team traveled home to compete in the final South Eastern Regional Race at the beginning of August. Stay tuned to find out how the series wrapped up!

Tomac rider Jim Thijs got his 3th top10 result in 3 Xterra World Cup races this year!

He came out of the water right behind the leaders. On his Tomac Type X hardtail with Notubes Podium MMX wheels Jim could ride with some of the best Xterra bikers. The bike course had a lot of climbing and some downhill sections on a WC DH track in the Czech mountains. The muddy conditions made the course even more technical which suited Jim. The spectators went crazy when they saw Jim jumping some parts of the DH track.

In the beginning of the run Jim struggled a little bit to find his right stride. But once he started feeling better he was on fire. In the last 5k he could pass 3 athletes to get the last top10 spot.

Jim Thijs is now going on a training camp in the Alps to start his preparation for the Xterra World Championships in Maui, Hawaii.

Tomac Rider and Pro Triathlete Jim Thijs wins Grand Raid!

Triathlete Jim Thijs won the Grand Raid Nisramont multisport event in Belgium. The participants had to do an aquathlon race with a trail run on Saturday morning, a 50k mtb race in the afternoon and an off-road triathlon on Sunday.

Jim started at the last event, the off-road triathlon, at the 2nd place in the GC. He had to make up 15sec to win the GC. At the end of the race he took control over the event. He crossed the finish in first position, more the one minute ahead of the 2nd place finisher. With this result Jim won the GC with almost one minute bonus. “It was a very hard race. As a triathlete I’m not used to multiple races on one weekend. I’m very happy that I was strong over all the different races”.

Jim Thijs from Belgium did an excellent job in Slovakia. He came 10th out of the ice cold mountain lake. On the very muddy mountain bike course he could move up to on the technical parts. With 4k to go he had a puncture. “I decided not quit and run with my bike instead”. Thijs came in transition with the company of 2 guys who caught him because of the puncture. “I felt very strong when I could finally start running without my bike after the transition from mtb to running”. Thijs moved back to 6th and kept this position until the finish.

Jim Thijs (Belgium) raced his second Xterra World Tour race this weekend in Italy. The best European athletes came to Orosei to race for the European Championship title. Thijs finished 8^th in this very strong field. “I’m getting better every race. The progress that I’m making is exciting. The main goal for this year are the Xterra World Championships in Maui. This race is only in October. To be 100% fit by then means I can’t be at my best level right now. Finishing 8^th at the European Championships is better than I expected so I’m very happy about it”.

Jim raced a Tomac TypeX hardtail. Paired with the amazing Notubes Podium MMX wheelset and the O.Symetric chainrings the bike was just over 9kg. “This set-up is simply fantastic. It accelerates so fast out of the corners and I’m very confident to attack the downhills”.

Garda Marathon

It was a few weeks ago now, but Johnny and I (Joel Smith) competed in the Garda Bike Marathon in Italy. It was 106k in distance and over 12K in climbing. We were pretty worked.

American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Team Race Report

The American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Professional Mountain Bike Team rolled out on the new Flint 29 for the first time this weekend in Ducktown, TN for the 6th round of the South Eastern Regional Championship Series. The 29 inch bike provided Robert and Chase an advantage on the course, which consisted of a long climb, a long downhill, and a mile of pavement. The Pro Men race started hard and fast with Robert off the front early in the first of three laps. Only one rider would be able to bridge the gap and Robert would hold on to 2nd place on the day. Chase also finished in 2nd place on his Flint 29. Philicia, riding the Tomac Type X held on for a top ten in the Pro/Open Women's class. The finishes helped the team keep their top 5 places Overall in the Series. The Team next races closer to home in Charlotte, NC for a Southern Classic Race.

Round 2 of the ‘British Downhill Series’ took us to the famous Fort William in Scotland. I was at the British NPS there last year so I knew what to expect.

My dad, James OC, Dennes O Shea and I headed off in the van on Friday morning, we arrived in Fort Bill 11 hours later at 7 pm. We set up the pit, had some dinner and got ready for the weekend ahead.

Saturday morning went well, Myself and Gavin Carrol got a uplift que jump pass as Dennis was marshalling, which was great as we didnt have to que up for the Gondola, Cheers Dennis!

I got 7 good runs in on Saturday, I felt quick on the track through the corners and the rocky bits, but I hadnt done a full run during practise so I wasnt sure how id cope in a full run.

I rested up for the rest of the day, checked my bike and got ready for race day on Sunday.

Up again early Sunday morning and I got 2 practise runs in, felt good so I rested up for seeding. Gave the bike a check, got some food and then went up for my seeding run, ready for my first full run of the weekend. I came down and went into 8th place, which I wasnt too happy about but I had bent my mech during the run so I couldnt pedal much at the bottom.

Race run went even better, I went strong out of the gate and pinned all the top section, still not pedaling too much trying to save some energy for the bottom, but even still I was dead, I struggled through the bottom pedaly section and went into the hot seat. I stayed in the hot seat for a while and ended up in 4th place, which im pretty happy about considering I struggled alot on the long, physical track.

As usal the tomac went amazing all weekend and everything held up great, my Novatec wheels went strong even on such a rough track!

All in all a good weekend, except for when we missed the ferry on the way home and had to wait till 3 in the morning.

The Tomac Carbide helped the American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Professional Mountain Bike Team score all top-three finishes at the rocky, technical Alabama course this past weekend. The race was the 5th round of the South Eastern Regional Championship Series. Chase once again dominated the Cat 1 19-29 Men's field, beating the next competitor by over 2 minutes. Philicia continues to have success, placing 3rd in the Pro/Open Women. Robert also earned a 3rd place for the weekend in the Pro Men class. With 5 races to go in the Series, Chase leads his class in points. Robert and Philicia hold steady top-5 points positions. Racing resumes in two weeks in Ducktown, TN. The race is the 6th round of the SERC Series and is also a Kenda Cup Qualification Race.

The course was between 10-11km at old hidden vale. This course in particular is the one that the teams riders for the merida 24hr hr will be riding in July. The conditions were perfect bone dry and fun fast course. For me 6hr events are not my thing but because I was in Brisbane for the weekend anyway I thought a 6hr would be good training.

All I wanted to achieve for the race was to put down some fast consistant times for myself I was not to concerned were I finished but on the box is always good. I am not going to bore you with a long drawn out post so I will just get to the important end. I held an average of just over 20km/hr for the race had not mechanicals and finished in 2nd. 121km total.

My Carbide sl ate everything the course could throw at it and I didn't really give any consideration to slow down going into the rock gardens, were everyone seemed to be flatting. My Canis tyre were a great match to the sl and I never had a problem with traction.

Round 2 of the Irish National point series took us to Killarney, Kerry. We drove the red A team wagon 5 hours to the track on Friday, set up the BBQ and had some dinner. A good sleep and ready for practise the day after.

The sun was out on Saturday morning and I was ready for some runs. The track was dusty and running sweet, Its a very short course but packed with everything and is fast and rocky so it was real good fun to ride. Saturday practise went well, although I was a bit nervous on the steep rocky steps were I broke my collar bone last year. After a few runs behind elite rider Dan Wolfe I was feeling pretty quick. 1 slight over the bars crash which was luckly saved by the Knox armour.

After practise I sessioned some of the bottom sections with some mates, which ended in me snapping my crank spiders, chain ring and bashguard, luckly I got it sorted for Sunday.

Sunday morning was again sunny, I managed to get 3 practise runs in, but pushed up for 2 of them due to the long Qs. I was feeling confident enough for my race runs but I knew it was going to be very tight on such a short track with no room for error.

My first race run went OK, I clipped out near the start and it took me a while to get back in, but other than that it was pretty smooth. I was in 1st place after my first run, about 3 seconds ahead of 2nd place.

2nd run went even better, but I only managed to make up 1 a second, I kept first place, about 4 seconds ahead of 2nd place.

My time put me 3rd place in the Junior category, only 1 second from winning it, which shows how tight the track was!

All in all a great weekend and another win, I have so far won every race in Ireland.

My next race is the Welsh champs in Llangollen in a week, Which I cant wait for!

Tomac UK: Dan Sheridan's race report from the British Downhill Series Round #1

Round 1 of the newly named ‘British Downhill Series’ took place in Rheola, South Wales. I have been to Rheola back in 2008 for a Welsh dragon race and got 3rd, So I knew I could do well again.

I was feeling confident coming up to the race as I had a really good days riding on Wednesday, I felt fast and strong on the bike so I knew if I rode well I could get a good result.

Myself, my dad and Damo headed of in the camper on Friday evening, we had a 2 hour drive to the ferry in Wexford, then a 3 hour crossing and another 2 hour drive the other side.

We met up with James OC, Natalie, Rob Davis and Gavin Carrol at the port. On the ferry James built my wheel up with a new rim, Cheers!

We got to the track at 3am in the morning, and straight to sleep. After a few hours sleep I was up again ready for Saturday practise.

The weather was amazing, and the track was even better – long, Steep, fast and rough with a few technical bits. After sectioning bits of the track I was feeling good and was ready to do some fast runs. I did a run with expert rider Simon Parsons which was great and got me up to speed. I ended the day with walking the track and checking out some lines.

It was also great meeting Jeremy from Chocolate Distribution – who sorts me out with all my great Nema kit, Jamie from WideOpen Mag and the guys at Juice Lubes!

I was up early on sunday morning and got on the first uplift, I had a clean first run and got all my lines pinned. I did a second run with fellow Tomac rider Philip Atwill, which also went well so I was feeling good for my runs!

I set off at 11.06 for my seeding run, It went pretty good, about 90% of what I could do. I came down in 3rd place, on the same second as 2nd place. I predicted I could go another 5 seconds quicker and was feeling even better for my race run.

The race run went pretty good, I got very wild up top and nearly lost it which lost me a bit of time but otherwise it was a pretty clean run. I got a bit loose again in the off camber, which was expected with my ‘win it or bin it’ attitude. I came down and held onto 3rd place. I only managed to go 1 second quicker in my race run, which got me a 3.21.

Really happy with the 3rd place, as the competition is so much higher than in Ireland. I was planning on using this race to see what my pace was like for the rest of the year so getting a podium was great.

The bike went amazing all weekend and just wanted to keep going faster! Huge thanks to James & Natalie O Carrol from OC Tuning, having them there made such a difference, Not having to worry about my bike and having it clean and ready to go for each run took alot of pressure of me and let me focus on getting ready for runs!

Supersports Tomac: Andy Fellows scores 2nd Place at Australian 24 hour race!

"What a massive weekend and an epic race. We (Dad and I) made it down to Canberra on Friday afternoon and headed out to Majura for a look at the course, while putting my bike together I found that I was missing the rear derailer bolts - mistake 1, luckily the guys at Mal Adjusted hooked me up with some new ones! So I headed out on the practice lap and around 5 minutes in I snapped the cage of my brand new XX rear deralier! - mistake 2, this time it was Bike Culture who came to the rescue! These mistakes usually come in three's right? Whats next?

After a good carbo load and solid sleep, we headed out to the race to get set up and prepare for the race, Before we knew it we were on the start grid ready for a solid session. It was decided that we would all roll the first lap out of respect for 'Willo' before the hammer went down.

The course was the same as last years and in great condition, around 9kms in length and only one solid climb, making it very single speed friendly. Tight, twisty single track and a couple of good feeding straights.

The first 6 hours of the race were probably the worst for me, just could find any rhythm or composure. Mistake 3 was lurking, luckily it came only 1km for the feed zone, my left pedal just fell off! I then became the one legged man until I could swap bikes and continue on my way! (that's why we use 2-3 bikes) Dad even found the pedal! Just as darkness fell I started to find my legs, I soon caught Bellie, then John, then Scott and Brett, leaving only Jason up the road. Around 10pm I really started to feel good and put down of good lap times and tried to catch Jason, but just couldn't, although he didn't lap me, which is an improvement! Next time Jason!! Haha..

Nutrition was good but still needs some fine tuning, the bananas worked well until I turned into a monkey! Piklets and sambos are always a winner, especially with vegemite- a little salt hit. Drinks ranged from sports drinks, water, lemonade, up and go, ribeena juice, orange juice and coke! 20 odd gels consumed.

Bikes ran well, other than the 'mistakes' which were just unlucky, Go Tomac! Thanks to Rodney at supersports, they were tuned to perfection by the crew a cognition, my Onza Canis railed every corner! Ayups preformed well as usually, and big thanks to Dad for all his support and staying up all night! Cheer"

MORF Racing Update: Greg's Type X First Impression and Review

"I'll will be racing a Tomac Type X for the upcoming Xterra and MTB bike season along w/ a few other MORF racers. I've had it for the a few weeks now but the trails have been too muddy to ride until recently a few days ago. I took it for it's first ride this weekend at the Front Range Mtb. Series in Lakewood... OUCH! Not the best way to break in a new bike, but it rode flawlessly. I really like the carbon frame and the geometry on it.

I built it up w/ parts from Redstone Cyclery - thanks Dave! I put a Fox fork upfront w/ American Classics wheels, Ritchey bar/stem combo and a SRAM drivetrain. It tipped the scales right at 21 lbs incl. pedals. Not bad at all. I dropped over 5 lbs. from my race bike from last season."

American Classic/Kenda/Tomac: Team Update

The American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Professional Mountain Bike Team traveled to Fontana, California for the first round of the USA Cycling Pro-Tour. Both Pro team members competed in cross country, short track, and Super-D. Philicia completed the weekend with a top-25 result in cross-country, a top-20 in short track and just off the podium with a 6th place in Pro Women Super-D. Robert earned a 33rd in cross-country, 23rd in short track, and a solid top-10 in Super-D. Chase, our elite junior member, compete in the Junior elite cross-country on Saturday. After finishing in 3rd with a mechanical, Chase jumped into the Cat 1 19-24 cross-country class on Sunday, and came in 1st place. Chase also competed in the Junior Super-D and won that as well, earning him 3 podium finishes in the weekend. The team goes back to North Carolina this week for a short stay and Southeastern Regional Race, then back to California for the Sea Otter Classic.

Well last Friday saw the Yellow Vito van loaded up with a couple of Carbide SL, a hand full of AY Up lights, myself and Chris and a trip to Port ahead of us. We made it down to Port by about 9pm and set up camp right next to the 4 man AA team on the oval at Telegraph point. Chris had been telling me all about this race for a year so I was pretty stoked to be there, Chris yells out me come and check out the this corner then another then another by the time we thought we should head back we were about half way around the track and by 1am sat morning we had mad it around the course [Walking]. We were in for a treat this track was great.

The Port 12hr starts at 12 midnight Saturday night, so on Saturday morning we headed out for a practice lap, what can I say all of us were just loving it, every corner was well groomed, nice burms , a couple of log drops and a spine ride thrown in for fun. This was a course you could enjoy riding for a full 12hrs. The course was about 9.6km long

After a full day of being awake, you would think I would be ready for a sleep. No I couldn't sleep and by the time midnight came around, I was on the start line and yawning my head off. The gun went and I found myself alongside Fitzy into the first corner then I settled into third position for the first half of the lap. Then as you would expect English came screaming through with a team rider in tow. So the start of the race went like this for the first couple of laps and I was pushing pretty hard. After about 4hrs I was hurting my head wasn't in a good place and when I asked mickers how I was travelling, he told me I was in 5th but Jason was in 3rd. So what did I want out of this race? to see how I was travelling and have a bit of competition to push me. Well I got it I thought to myself, harden the F up got back on my bike and said to myself no more middle ring. Big ring it all the way and try and real myself back into podium contention.

So as you could imagine I kept chipping away trying to put consistent lap times in until I found 3rd. I caught him within the first km of the lap and decided to sit behind him and try and figure out where I was quicker then him and where I needed find some pace. The plan worked apart from a stack along the way I rolled into transition just behind him. I quickly grabbed some food jumped back on the bike and headed out slightly in front. I put the hammer down and kept looking over my shoulder to see if I could see his lights. I didn't see him so I kept hammer down.

As morning was upon us English was ready to lap me for the first of many [Machine]. The rest of the race went on the same and I kept trying to increase my lead. I was in no position to catch 2nd and English was way out in front. So by the time 11:40 rocked around I was about 45min in front and with a long drive ahead of me I decided I was happy with what I had done.

Achievements : just over 200km completed, 20 laps out of 21 done in the Big ring.

All up the track is sick, definitely worth the drive to race on English home track.

(March 21, 2010) Dunedin, New Zealand – DRD Team rider Kieran Bennett takes home two stellar results from one of the most prestigious cycling events in the south pacific! The Oceania Mountain Bike Championships, held in Dunedin, New Zealand, showcases the best mountain bike racers from Australia, New Zealand and the region all battling it out to win the title of Oceania Champion.

Following a streak of problematic races, Kieran seems to have gotten his rhythm back as he has finished his second race aboard his new DRD Tomac Primer... and with just as many podiums! With a new bike & a new team, Kieran is quick to prove just why he’s one of the quickest Kiwis on the circuit!

After a last minute decision to race 4X, Kieran promptly proved that his decision would be fruitful. Within a few practice runs, Kieran had the course dialled and had some big inside lines ready on the turns.

Going into qualifying, Kieran was pleasantly surprised to find himself in 6th position after a fairly average run.

During the race, Kieran’s inside lines paid off, as he was still getting accustomed with gated racing. Getting pushed to the back, he had to dig deep and make a move for advancement. The next round once again required Kieran to make a move against some veteran 4X riders. After a few strong passes in the first two corners, Kieran found himself in the lead & holding on until the finish.

In the finals, Kieran would find himself next to strong competition in Wyn Masters and Daniel Franks

“I definitely wasn’t expecting to be in the finals that when I decided to race, but I was stoked knowing I had made it that far,” said Kieran

Wyn Masters and Daniel Franks would take the top two spots at the finish, while Kieran was all smiles with his strong 3rd place performance.

Kieran’s main focus this weekend would undoubtedly be in the Downhill. The track suited Kieran well as it varied in terrain & was a lot of fun to ride. Kieran had to hold himself back from riding, so he wouldn’t exert himself doing too many practice runs, and remain fresh for race day.

Kieran was feeling confident and knew he could pull a good result. However, qualifying would prove to be bittersweet as a mechanical would cause a bit of a dampener in his plans, as he wanted to leave the start gate hard and see how he ranked against his competition.

“I sprinted hard out of the start and into the first few turns,” explained Kieran. “As I was pedalling out of the 3rd turn on the track, my chain dropped and got jammed out in my guide! I was pretty gutted so I just tried to carry as much speed as possible for the rest of the run. I somehow still managed to come in 12th, so I felt good going into the finals.”

Kieran’s confidence going into his race run would prove essential as there were a number of elite world cup level racers in attendance.

“Straight away I was feeling good on my DRD Tomac Primer and hardly felt like any time had passed by entering the final wooded section,” said Kieran. “Knowing all I had to do was make it out of the trees and through the 4x section clean, I started to ramp it up a little more, until I hit the finish and into the lead!”
In the end, Kieran’s time would be good enough for 4th place behind fellow countrymen Cam Cole, Nathan Rankin and Wyn Masters who have all been at the top of their game as of late.

All-in-all, an extremely successful weekend for Kieran, as he makes another big step towards the top of the podium! His confidence is on the rise & he’s getting comfortable on his new DRD Tomac!

Next up on the agenda, team DRD Tomac will be competing simultaneously in two different states. While Robin Baloochi will be attending the first round of the NWCup in Port Angeles, Washington; John Keep & Brad King will race the first round of the California Gold Cup in Fontana, California.

The American Classic/Kenda/Tomac Professional Mountain Bike Team competed in

the first round of the South Eastern Regional Championship Series in

Gainesville, Florida this weekend. With a big prize purse on the line, the top

pros from the southeast were out in full force. Chase started the day off

well, with a 3rd place in the 19-29 Cat 1 Men's field, with a racing age of

16. Philicia pulled in a solid top 10 finish, with a 7th in Pro Women. Robert

had some bad luck with a mechanical in the opening stretch of the Pro Men's

race. After getting his bike functioning again, he played catch-up with the

field and came back up to 13th place. The Team will travel next week to

Fontana, CA for the first round of the US Pro Tour.

"I recently built up the Tomac Type X with some parts I had lying around. Last night I finally took her out to break her in on city trail in Boulder.

The verdict -- I really like this bike and the build. It fits me perfectly and I dig the aesthetics. At a bit over 20 lbs, sans pedals, there will be no excuses with this chasis and drive train.

Not a bad view for "city trail," and during the quick ride I was reminded of what a unique place is Boulder. For reasons beyond the Flatirons, it is with mixed emotions that we say goodbye. But don't feel sorry for me. We're headed south to be closer to family... within the mountain bike friendly state of AZ. Once settled, assuming good health and good fortune, I'll continue working on this new bike's engine for years to come. It's the stuff dreams are made of."

Escondido, California – Dean Racing Development (DRD) Tomac kicked off our unofficial start to the 2010 season this past weekend in two different countries and with great attention! Team leaders Kieran Bennett & Robin Baloochi debuted their new DRD Tomac Primer 220’s at two events – the Skyline Screamer in Wellington, New Zealand, and the Southridge Winter Series finals in Fontana, California.

Having limited time on his new Tomac Primer, Kieran surprised a number of people with his great battle in the Skyline Screamer (an eliminator “3-cross” style format down a wide open firebreak). With a number of elite riders in contention for a sizeable purse, this event was sure to be a great race.

Kieran handled the new bike perfectly, and was seen with a big smile the whole way down the track. Winning round after round, Kieran found himself in the finals, where he would meet another world cup veteran racer in Nathan Rankin. An epic battle ensued with both Kieran & Nathan exchanging leads. Unfortunately for Kieran, Nathan was able to squeeze past him on the last possible passing point & took the win. Not all was a loss, as Kieran pocket a cool $500 for 2nd place.

“This was by far the most fun I’ve had on a bike in a long time and I think a lot of that is thanks to my new DRD Tomac” said Kieran. “I’ve never felt so instantly comfortable and confident on a new bike. I can’t say thanks enough to the organisers for putting on a great event and making it possible for me to be there, and also to Jeremiah at DRD for taking me in this season and putting me on an amazing bike!”

At the same time, here in the states, veteran racer Robin Baloochi returns from a 3 year hiatus to rock the DRD Tomac colors! With an extensive history & knowledge of racing, Robin is going to be a great asset to the team! “Getting his feet wet again” & “working out the kinks” at smaller events like Fontana and other upcoming local events, Robin will sure to be one to watch at the 2010 Pro Gravity Tour!

“Overall the first day on the bike went better than expected and rain showers through Saturday night made for real good conditions come race day,” said Robin. “During Sunday morning’s practice I somehow managed to bash a rock and knock my crank arm out of alignment, but with some innovative solutions between Jeremiah and some friends, we were somehow able to salvage a race run. At the end of the day, I finished 24th without any big hang ups. The goal of the weekend was met, which was to get the new bike rolling, get me in the gate to start running against the clock again, and figure out any kinks that need to be worked until the official season starts at the Sea Otter Classic.”

Queensland 4X Titles Go to the Huntingtons

Eighty two riders made the trek to Toowoomba this weekend to compete in the QLD 4X State Championships. With numbers the highest-ever turn out for a State Round in Australia, it was looking to be a great day. With nearly 90 degree heat, everyone was sweating it out. But there was one guy who didn’t look like the weather was bothering him. He was the one man everyone was watching in awe. The Rainbow Jersey of Jared Graves was carving up the track and was looking good for the win.

Now, onto racing, Graves was by far looking the best on the day and was smashing the competition in the motos. With 23 riders at the start the field was cut down to 16 for the quarter finals. Graves was in the first quarter and was looking to take the win, but a mechanical stopped his domination.

This left the win wide open to the Elite Men’s field. In the semi finals, we saw 2 of the favorites take each other out in the most spectacular crash of the day. Daniel Castillo and Dale Percy went flying through the air in the first corner allowing Michael Young and Hayden Lester to advance into the final. In semi final 2, we saw Camillo Sanchez try to make a move on Randal Huntington (Tomac Racing, Supersports, Revolution Mag, Sram, For The Riders) only to be pushed out by Huntington’s elbows and sheer power and height.

Final time and 4 riders lined the gates and Huntington had a massive target on his back. It was the Tomac Rider against the Ashgrove Cycles Team. Major Sponsor VS Major Sponsor. Michael Young (Ashgrove Cycles), Richard Levinson (Ashgrove Cycles, Agent Eight Clothing) & Hayden Lester (Ashgrove Cycles) were hoping to take out Huntington. Things didn’t go as planned for the Ashgrove Team though. They all managed to take each other out. Young used his wide handlebars to his disadvantage and crashed in the first straight holding up Lester. Levinson managed to escape the carnage but not for long as he took himself out in the 3rd corner, allowing Lester to recover. But Huntington was long gone and crossed the line in 1st, while Lester finished the race in 2nd with a flat tire. Levinson finished in 3rd and Young managed to roll over the line in 4th.

In Elite Women, we had 7 women fighting out for the title. Previous races Sarsha Huntington (Tomac Racing, Supersports, Revolution Mag, Sram, For The Riders) has been racing the boys but decided to try and defend her title. Sarsha dominated in the motos but not without some fierce competition from Cherie Simpson. Final time and both Huntington and Simpson (DK, LKI, Maxxis) were on the gate along with ever improving Kylie Maduna (For The Riders) and Samantha Gambrill (Bikeology). Simpson managed to whole shot the gate and tried to move across on Huntington, but the pure height of Sarsha (at 6 foot even) and her aggressiveness was what eventually made Simpson crash heavily to the ground, but not without slowing down Huntington. Throughout all this, Maduna went high and managed to miss the action. Huntington put on the chase and kept her cool so she could set up Maduna in the 2nd last corner. Huntington swept underneath her and took the lead to take the hat trick for QLD Elite Women 4X Champ. Maduna finished in 2nd & Gambrill took out 3rd.

I just finished in 2nd place overall at the Intermontane Challenge, a 5-day stage race held in Kamloops, BC. It was the hardest race I have ever done. There were many, many challenges in this event but the most formidable one was the heat. It was 100 degrees every day, adding an extra challenge to an already difficult race. This was only my second stage race so I went into the event knowing that I had to be prepared for anything.

When we arrived in Kamloops on Saturday afternoon our car's thermometer read 103 degrees. Yikes. I was especially nervous about the heat because I had a terrible time of it at this year’s Sea Otter and could barely finish the 1:30 race! However, Kamloops’ heat was incredibly dry. It felt slightly less oppressive than the Massachusetts brand of humid heat I grew up in-no hot and sticky here!

I could write a 3-part novel about drama associated with this first-year event. The important details: we had 4 huge stages ranging from 40-60 miles and a final 17-mile time trial on Friday. Each day we set off in the morning with a 30 min. neutral rollout on paved roads escorted by the RCMP. Every stage included what felt like an obscene amount of climbing and super-fast downhills on trails that varied from technical, narrow, rooty-rocky singletrack to wide open doubletrack and graded dirt roads. Only a handful of the trails were built for mountain bikes and much of the terrain was barely cut in and much of it was overgrown. The course marking were insufficient most days and people were getting lost all week long.

After riding with or directly behind Sue Butler for most of day one I lost 38 minutes when I took a guess on an unmarked turn at mile 40 with a group of men. Somehow I thought I we were on the right track when a race official smiled and waved at us from a passing truck when we were headed 6 miles in the wrong direction. Right. Miraculously, I recovered from that added 40 min. time-trial/detour and kept my head in the game for the rest of the week. I rode my heart out every minute of every day through flat tires and numerous crashes no matter where I was in the GC.

I ended up taking crawling back from a distant 4th place in the GC on day 1 to 2nd overall. I decided to split my prize money with the 3rd place woman, Sarah Kaufman. In my opinion, nothing about this race was fair to anyone involved so sharing my prize money evenly with Sarah was the one little thing I could do to correct at least one of the race’s wrongs. Every single Pro Woman got lost at least once during the week and depending on what day it was, it either killed your spot in the GC or it didn't count against you.

This was my third year racing the 37 mile, 4650 feet of climbing, backcountry Hermosa Creek Classic and it was a win on the new Carbide SL. I placed 2nd and 3rd in previous years, but this year I had more fitness after doing the BC Bike Race in July. My Carbide SL was a perfect choice for this course getting me through the rough 20 mile Hermosa Creek trail and then climbing like a carbon road bike up Hotel Draw. We drop in from the Colorado Trail down this nasty, unused, narrow Corral Draw Trail that throws tiered riders around and I only laid it down once!

Well...tough race weekend this past weekend for Rhys Willemse. After crashing last weekend in Mount Saint Anne, Rhys was hoping for a good result in Bromont this past weekend. Before MSA, it was looking like he would be on top of the junior WC points race, but MSA ruined that chance.

Rhys qualified in 31st in Bromont with a pretty casual run, but put too much of it into the race run and crashed twice.

That said, Rhys will finish the year in 2nd place in WC points in Juniors.

"Having been 2^nd and three times 3^rd place at Mountain Bike National Championships, I was anxious to get a win. This year, preparation and good fortune were on my side, and I held a small gap over Rob Squire to win the U23 National Championship. As a Colorado native, I love long aerobic climbs and was able to stretch my gap each lap on the course’s long lone climb. Rob would reel me in a little each descent, which kept the race exciting and stressful right until the finish. I remember reaching the top of the final downhill with a comfortable gap and vowing to ride a safe and smooth descent. Seconds later, I washed out my front wheel in a corner and went sailing over the bars. Fortunately my bike was unharmed, and I jumped back on with so much adrenaline that I didn’t notice my skewed handlebars or the rock lodged in the front of my helmet. I can say with confidence that the final switchbacks and finishing straightaway of the course were some of the most fun bits of bike riding I have ever done. On the one hand, riding well was so much fun that I immediately get motivated future races. On the other hand, winning nationals makes me think back on all the support that has gotten me to this point. Great family, coaches and friends, and exceptional support from USA Cycling and great companies like Kenda, Tomac, and Hayes, and Hammer have made it possible to pursue this dream. "

Big News: Carbide XC Test in Bike Magazine Germany

Well, I don't normally wax poetic about magazine bike tests, mainly because I feel like it's a little self serving to recap on a magazine test, but I assume that many of you won't hear about this one, so I will share the news.

Bike Magazin (no "e") Germany is known worldwide for it's testing prowess. I visted Peter Nilges, test editor at Bike Magazin, last month in Munich and was more than impressed by the effort put into each test. For example, they have a machine test lab that has two full time engineers and more test equipment than any bike brand that I have seen. It is rivalled only by the independent test labs that qualify Tomac and other brands bikes for CEN certification. They break down each complete bike and check geometry (via lasers), weight and overall frame quality. They then put the frame through a rigorous set of stiffness test that accurately gauge just how stiff the front end, rear end and complete frame really is. It's impressive to say the least, and that's before anyone ever throws a leg over the bike (note: in order to not skew their judgement, they don't find out the lab results until after they have made their ride test).

It's really an amazing set up and the professionalism at the magazine itself is simply unsurpassed. No magazine is going through even half of the effort that they go through to provide an accurate test. So, you can imagine my excitement when the Carbide XC received Bike's highest rating, a "Super" (pronounced Zuuper! in German), the only bike in the test to receive such high marks. I am excited because they have quantified what I have been saying since we restarted Tomac: We have the highest stiffness to weight ratio of any bike brand, and the result is stellar riding performance.

A few weeks ago I wrote about David Frehner, the general director of our Spanish importer Alpcross and his results at the Transgermany ultra-endurance race in Germany. I just also received the results from Eva and Marco Carrer, from Kraftwerk Bike Shop in Switzerland (http://www.rockthisbike.ch/). Eva ,riding a Carbide XC, finished 15th overall while Marco, riding a Carbide SL, finished 15th in the Master Division.

I mean really! How awesome is it to see a bike shop owner who is doing events like this? And finishing high up in the results! Honestly, this is phonoeminal to me, especially after going into a US bike shop this week and hearing an overweight bike shop guy try to tell me about "mountain bikes".

Tomac importer Alpcross has signed up with Audi to cross promote the new Audi Q5

This shot, featuring a Snyper on the racks, is from a recent Ultramarathon event in Spain (where Tomac riders podiumed in both the women's and men's pro events-actually the women's event was won by a Tomac rider).
